Here are some suggested books that I believe will provide a wealth of information for models and actors and help you get started or advance in your career. There are a number of other books available and I have almost all of them. These are the ones I feel are most useful.

Actors

"Everything you always wanted to know about LA's and NY's Casting Directors . . . but were afraid to ask!" by Wendy Shawn. Castbusters, Los Angeles. $6.95 This booklet came out in the late 1980's and consists of quotes from casting directors. It is hard to find, but you might find it in used book stores. It has lots of advice on getting and agent, acting, and getting parts which is still current even if the casting director information is not.

"How to be a Working Actor: The Insiders Guide to Finding Jobs in Theater, Film and Television" by Mari Lyn Henry and Lynne Rogers. c1994, Backstage Books. ISBN 0-8230-8328-4. $18.95.

"How to Act and Eat at the Same Time: The Business of Landing a Professional Acting Job" by Tom Logan. c1982, Communications Press Inc. ISBN 0-89461-039-2. $6.95

"The Working Actor" by Katinka Matson & Judith Katz. c1993, Penguin Books. ISBN 0-14-014433-1. $12.00.

"How to Sell Yourself as an Actor" by K Callan. c1992, Sweden Press. ISBN 0-9617336-7-5. $15.95.

Modeling

"The Modeling Manual - A Step-By-Step Guide to Getting Started in Modeling" by John G. Blair. c1998. (click on the title to see a summary online)

"The Professional Model's Handbook" by Linda A. Balhorn. c1990, Milady Publishing Co. ISBN 0-87350-376-7. $32.95. I have most of the modeling books published in the last 15 or so years and most of them offer the usual advice. This particular book seems to have the most complete and correct information. The others, in my opinion, do not add anything additional beyond this one.

Child Modeling

"Wilhelmina's World of Child Modeling" by Natasha Esch. c1994, Career Press Inc. ISBN 1-56414-141-1. $14.95.

Acting and Modeling

"Getting Started in Acting and Modeling" by Felicia Alexandria. c1990, Mystique Press. ISBN 0-9626159-5-1. $16.95

"The Glam Scam: Successfully Avoiding the Casting Couch and Other Talent and Modeling Scams" by Erik Joseph. c1994, Lone Eagle Publishing Company. ISBN 0-943728-66-5. $13.95. This is must reading for all actors and models.

"International Directory of Model and Talent Agencies and Schools". published annually by Peter Glenn Publications Ltd. ISBN 0-87314-135-0. $25.00.
